virgil_picVirgil Simons, Founder & President,
The Prostate Net


The Prostate Net is a patient education and advocacy organization. Using the experiences gained in surviving prostate cancer, Virgil has built an international organization that uses a matrix of informational techniques and personal team counselors, public forums, newsletters and community disease interventions to address disease risk awareness and early disease intervention. The organization campaign, Going to the Barbershop to Fight Cancer, has resulted in thousands of men being screened for prostate cancer. Virgil is a member of numerous cancer research and pharmaceutical organizations and manufacturers. Prior to his involvement in healthcare, he had an extensive career in the textile, financial services, international trade and retail markets as a senior executive and/or entrepreneur. Additionally, he has been a Lecturer in Marketing at Louisiana Tech University, The Fashion Institute of Technology, LaGuardia Community College as well as being a Member of the Board of Advisors for Texas Women's University.

With 12 years of experience Sandra has worked with the Milady disciplines for more than seven years and understands the unique challenges and changes in the beauty education industry. Sandra works with the education and professional markets to ensure that customer needs are met with regard to licensure preparation and professional development. Milady has been a provider of barber and beauty education for 80 years.

 

 

jones_picDavid Jones has been a practicing barber for 35 years, 4 ½ years shop management and 30-year shop owner. He was appointed to the Georgia State Barber Board in 1992 where he has served as chairman for the past 12 years. David has also serves on the National Association of Barber Boards of America and is a past president. A former educator/trainer for Roffler and Redken, he looks forward to raising the bar on the Barbering industry as Chairman of the Advisory Board for Barbers International as well as participating as an educator and trainer.

 

 

zane_picZane Skerry now serves as Vice Chairman of the Barbers International Advisory Board. She has been a barber since 1971 and also a barbershop owner and barber instructor. Zane became the executive director of the Massachusetts Board of Barbers in 1988 and still holds that position. She served on the National Association of Barber Boards of America for five years and was President of the association in 1999; she still serves on the executive committee of the NABBA. Her life has been dedicated to the preservation and expansion of the barbering profession in her home state, throughout the United States, and the world.

Mike is fourth generation in the 44/20 company. They are a manufacturer of hand crafted precision shears. Since the late 1930's, the company has enjoyed a reputation for product excellence. For years, they have been sharing their knowledge with students and professionals in the industry to help them better themselves. Mike has worked closely with leaders in the industry to design new tools that will benefit the professional and optimize their performance. He travels worldwide to learn different manufacturing techniques and styles. 44/20’s intention is to bring back the best knowledge for the company and its customers.
