Don Fagan - Co-Founder, Marketing and Events
Marketing and communications strategist for over 16 years serving national and global healthcare, cosmetology/barbering, legal, and government corporations in their marketing, advertising, sales and IT strategies. Experience includes present partner in Hair Solutions Group, LLC, marketing project consult for Milady-Thomson Delmar Learning, marketing advisor for National Association of Barber Boards of America, Marketing for association of governing bodies for barber and hair professionals in the U.S, Global Marketing Director of National Interstate Council, a global licensing corporation for cosmetology and barbering examinations. Don's background also includes marketing, advertising, organization and fund raising for numerous businesses and corporations and conferences throughout the United States. He holds an M.B.A.and a B.S. Degree in marketing and advertising and communications, in addition to over six years of intensive technical and computer IT training.
Sondra Clark - Co-Founder, Operations and Event Planning
Executive Director for the Mississippi Barber Board for over 6 years, Sondra's dedication is well known in the industry. She has served on various NABBA (National Association of Barber Boards) committees and continues to be a driving influence with over 21 years of experience in working with government.
Mike McBunch - Training
Mike has been serving the public as a professional
barber for over 26 years. His varied background and experience includes
barber instructor licensure, teaching and sole proprietorship
of his own shop, The Hair Co., since 1990. Mike is currently serving his second
term on the Mississippi Board of Barber Examiners and has been the president
for the past three years. In addition, he was recently elected 5th vice president of
the National Association of Barber Boards of America at their 2006 conference in
Denver, Colorado. Mike was the youngest barber in Mississippi to receive the
Barber of the Year Award at age 29. In 1990, he was awarded Roffler Educational
Artist of the Year. Mike is a Roffler educator and guest artist who travels
extensively both nationally and internationally.
Maura Scali-Sheahan - Education
In addition to being a Master Barber, Maura presently serves as a full-time instructor for both vocational and teacher education courses at Florida Community College in Jacksonville, Florida. She has served on a variety of college councils and committees as well as the Illinois and Florida State Barber Boards. Maura has been a presenter for The Career Institute since 2000 and is dedicated to training educators in teaching methods and the instructional materials design. Maura is also the revision author of the last three editions of Milady’s Standard: Professional Barbering and its supplements for Thomson Delmar Learning. In addition to full-time teaching and freelance writing for the industry, Maura is an adjunct instructor for Southern Illinois University’s off-campus military programs. She has a Master’s in Education with a specialization in Workforce Education, Training, and Development and is working towards a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership. Maura is dedicated to furthering the knowledge, technical skill-base, and professionalism of instructors and barbers entering the industry. Recently Maura was inducted into the Barber Hall of Fame, which is one of the highest awards a barber can receive.
Lynne Scott Jackson - Co-Founder, Marketing and Public Relations
Communications professional with 25 years experience in national consumer marketing, advertising, audience/channel expansion, content development, strategic advocacy, healthcare, and media relations. In addition to serving as marketing officer for Barbers International, Lynne has developed public relations programs for numerous corporations, businesses and institutions, including Colgate-Palmolive Company, Pepsi-Cola Company and The Prostate Net, to name a few. Prior to forming Millynneum, a business-to-consumer consulting practice, she held management positions at Hill and Knowlton, UniWorld Group and the St. Petersburg (FL) Times. Lynne received a B.A. in journalism from Howard University and is an instructor at New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. She received the 2005 Business Leadership & Excellence Award from UnityFirst.com, for her pioneer marketing strategies.
Jim Stone - Schools and Education
Jim has been a licensed barber for 30 years and has over 25 years of teaching and school ownership experience. In addition to earning a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University, Jim studied at Sassoon’s in London, Mod Hair in Paris, and Roffler’s in the U.S. He spent 15 years as a Zotos International educator and platform artist, teaching advanced classes in London, Canada, the Pacific Rim and throughout the U.S. and was voted Zoto’s “Educator of the Year”. Jim later served on Zotos Education Council and is a past president of the National Association of Barber/Styling Schools. His work has been featured in several industry publications including Modern Salon and Men’s Passion.
Sam Barcelona - Industry Relations
As an administrator with the Arizona State Board of Barbers, Sam oversees 15 schools throughout the state of Arizona. He holds a Masters Degree in Education, is a professional growth development instructor, and created the Mesa Arizona Public Schools Presentational Skills Curriculum which focuses on communication and performance. A veteran in the industry, he has been a barber and shop owner for over 30 years. Sam is also a musician, former actor, and voiceover artist for Disney and other major corporations.
